Operation Burnham compensation

That the House of Representatives urge the Government to deliver a formal, official apology, provide financial compensation to the civilian victims and families harmed during Operation Burnham, and offer them relocation to New Zealand.

The independent Government Inquiry into Operation Burnham confirmed that civilian casualties occurred, including the tragic death of a young child, and that the New Zealand Defence Force initially misled the public. I consider that providing a formal apology, financial amends, and offering the surviving families a safe future in New Zealand are necessary steps to achieve true accountability, honour the victims, and uphold our commitment to human rights.
