Trauma-informed diagnoses and support for survivors of abuse & coercive control

That the House of Representatives require health providers to conduct trauma and coercive-control assessments before diagnosing anyone with anxiety or personality disorder, ensure that support does not depend on diagnosis, and establish a process for survivors to seek clinical review of past diagnoses.

I believe many survivors are diagnosed with anxiety or personality disorders without anyone asking what happened to them, and many people living with coercive control do not recognise it themselves. I fear their responses to abuse are recorded as disorders while the abuse goes unrecorded, and these diagnoses can be used to question their credibility, with no way to have them reviewed. The Family Violence Act 2018 recognises coercive control, and I believe health care should too.
