Investigate the Teaching Council’s discretionary approvals for overseas teachers

That the House of Representatives investigate the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand’s discretionary registration practices for teachers trained overseas who do not meet International Qualifications Assessment core knowledge requirements.

I am concerned that discretionary exemptions can be granted even if someone does not meet International Qualification Assessment prerequisite requirements. I think school boards rely on section 597 of the Education and Training Act 2020 (general principles of being an employer in the education service) to forego independent due diligence.
